IT'S WHAT FCV: cervical-vaginal smear THE PAP TEST?

The Papanicolaou test, or Pap test in French 

It isscreening for cervical cancer.

It is a simple and quick procedure to detect changes in the cells of the cervix, it is not painful.

HOW IS THE PAP TEST DONE?

The cervix = organ accessible to screening.

The doctor will

> Gently introduce a special brush into the endocervical canal, the brush also reaches the exocervix.

> Turn the brush (at least 2 turns).

> Unload the brush into the storage bottle.

> Send the sample to a laboratory, where it will be examined under a microscope.

WHY ?

Because it can save your life!

In MOROCCO cancer of the cervix is the 2nd female genital cancer (after the breast).

The most important risk factor for cancer of the cervix is infection by a virus: (HPV).

HPV is spread primarily through sexual contact (which includes genital skin-to-skin contact and oral sex).

Using a condom only partially protects because it does not cover the entire genital area.

 

WHO MUST DO IT?

All the women :

Having had sexual activity

Aged 21 to 65

Start: 2 PAP TEST one year apart

If normal result: 1 PAP TEST /3 years

 

HOW TO PREPARE FOR FCV /  PAP TEST?

Take the test in the middle of your menstrual cycle (10 to 20 days after your period starts).

48 hours before your Pap test:

Avoid douching

Do not use vaginal medications or contraceptives (spermicides): creams, foams or jelly, as these products can drive out or hide abnormal cells.24 hours before your Pap test:

avoid having sex.
